Do you know why the albino cottonmouth had a bumpy belly?

Do you know why the albino cottonmouth had a bumpy belly?

She (yes we now know it is a female) ate a rat snake almost five inches longer than her body!  Now that’s a mouthful.  Because the snake was so large she was unable to digest it properly, so the bumps along her side were the ribs of the larger snake showing.  Luckily, Dr. James Bogan, a local vet, along with the help of the reptile staff, was able to perform surgery and removed the partially digested snake. The snake now appears healthy and more like a normal cottonmouth.  According to our reptile experts, cottonmouth snakes are known for eating anything they can catch, regardless of size. So the moral of this story is; don’t bite off more than you can chew!
