Girl Scout Badge Workshops

From wildlife to wild places, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens aligns its programs with the Girl Scout Standards.  Schedule your date with only a minimum of 10 people.
 


Daisy Petal Workshops


Clover Petal:  Use Resources Wisely
bird picThis program satisfies the requirements for the Clover petal.

In this badge workshop, participants will earn their Clover petal by completing the badge requirements through stories, crafts, up close animal encounters, and a tour around the Zoo.  Your group will learn how they and the Zoo can use resources wisely. 

Rosie Petal:  Make the World a Better Place
This program satisfies the requirements for the Rosie petal.

In this badge workshop, participants will earn their Rosie petal by completing the badge requirements through stories, crafts, up close animal encounters, and a tour around the Zoo.  Your group will find out how each of us can make a difference and the world a better place.


 

Brownie Badge Workshops
 

Pets
This program satisfies requirements for the Pets (It's Your Story: Animals) Badge.
In this badge workshop participants will gain a better understanding of "wild vs. domestic" animals and what it takes to care for them.  Your group will see sample diets, meet animals up close in the classroom, tour the Zoo, and help make an enrichment that will be given to one of the Zoo's animals.

This program satisfies requirements for the Senses (It's Your Planet: Investigation) Badge.

In this badge workshop, participants will learn about animals and their extraordinary senses!  through hands on activities, up close animal encounters and a tour through the Zoo, your group will learn how the animals use their senses to survive in their habitats. 

Bugs
This program satisfies requirements for the Bugs (Legacy: Naturalist) Badge.

In this badge workshop, participants will explore the world of bugs and learn about why they're so important to our world.  Through hands on activities, up close bug encounters, and a tour through the Zoo's Insect Zoo your group will explore these amazing creatures.


Junior Badge Workshops
 

Gardener
This program satisfies requirements for the Gardener (It's Your Planet: Do It Yourself) Badge.

In this badge workshop, participants will spend time in the Zoo's botanical gardens as they learn what every plant needs to survive.  Your group will also explore plants native to Florida and learn how they can create a backyard garden suitable for Florida's wildlife.

Animal Habitats

In this badge workshop, participants will investigate different habitats and the animals that call them home.  Through hands on activities, up close animal encounters, and a tour through the Zoo, your group will learn different ways they can help save endangered species and the habitats they live in. 


Workshop Prices & Reservations:
 

Cost:  $15 per person, minimum of 10 people required (includes girls and adults).  Price includes Zoo admission and choice of program.  One adult per five girls is free.  Only Scouts and chaperones may attend program.  Other guests may pay regular admission and enjoy the Zoo.

Time:  Approximately 2 hours

When:  Saturdays / September thru May
