April 23, 2008 Teacher Open House
4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Reservations Required
The Zoo knows that teachers work hard all year long and we would like to thank them for all they do. If you area teacher in Seminole, Orange, Volusia or Lake County, come enjoy food, drink, displays and prizes in the Wayne M. Densch Discovery Center! Admission is free but reservations are required. You are also welcome to bring your family for free so they can enjoy the Zoo while you are at the open house. (Due to space restraints, only teachers will be admitted to the open house.) Child care for children aged four and up will be provided at the new Tropical Splash Ground. May 10, 2008 Party for the Planet – Year of the Frog

It’s not easy being green,” when you’re a frog! Did you know American Zoo and Aquarium’s are calling this the Year of the Frog? Come learn all about how the Zoo is leaping into action to save frogs and other endangered animals. The Central Florida Zoo will be participating in the annual nationwide Party for the Planet celebration, this year focusing on the frog. The Zoo will be showcasing conservation efforts and giving you tips and ways you can participate. You can also buy a stuffed animal for your mother and help to save the animals in the wild. Browse through booths highlighting conservation and preservation efforts in which the Central Florida Zoo is involved. Learn new ways to connect with the environment and make a difference in conservation by spending the day with the animals who share our planet.

May 17, 2008 Enrichment Workshop for Pet Owners
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Various prices
Want to know how to make your pet happy? Treats! Learn from the Zoo’s Commissary staff how to make treats on a budget with everyday materials. During the workshop you will make a treat for your pet as well as the Zoo’s animals and watch as keepers give the enrichment items to our animals. On this "Enrichment Day," animals will get special treats in the form of special food, toys and objects to make their life more stimulating. Register early – this class will certainly fill quickly. Come to the Zoo for the annual “Fiesta del Coquí” and party with the coquí with live music, crafts and activities, demonstrations and much more celebrating the Hispanic culture. Enjoy fabulous regional cuisines, dance to the sounds of local bands, and be entertained by local dance groups, all celebrating this tiny frog of Puerto Rico.

Trick or treat in the wildest neighborhood in town during the Central Florida Zoo’s Zoo Boo Bash. It’s a safe, fun, and not-too-scary event for young and old alike. Kids are invited to bring goodie bags and wear costumes for trick or treat stations, and face painting. Take a haunted hayride, visit the Pumpkin Patch for a fun photo, and learn about the myths and realities of some misunderstood animals.

Learn about our Asian elephants, Maude and Mary, from their keepers.
