In this digital era, we have plenty of resources to continue connecting to wildlife and nature through online experiences!
San Diego Zoo Global Academy is offering an exciting opportunity for middle and high school students and teachers to learn more about animal species from around the world. Enjoy weeks of fun, fast-paced, interactive courses focusing on cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, and other amazing animals. Each program includes videos, images and quizzes and can be completed in as little as one to two hours. This is a free program presented in support of the community during the ongoing pandemic and as an ongoing commitment to wildlife. We hope that you will join us to learn more!
We are committed to upholding our mission to provide experiences that excite and inspire children and adults to learn and act on behalf of wildlife. In order to do this, we’re bringing the Zoo to You! This virtual extension of our educational programming includes videos of the animals, some behind-the-scenes access with zookeepers, as well as crafts and activities for everyone to enjoy.
At the Central Florida Zoo our animals are provided with opportunities to learn, interact, and exhibit natural behaviors. The mission of our enrichment and training program is to continually improve the lives of all the animals in our care.
What is enrichment? Enrichment is a term used to describe various activities that our Animal Care team utilizes to encourage natural behavior from the animals.
Why provide enrichment? The animal care team provides enrichment to stimulate the animals’ senses and encourage a wide range of natural behaviors.
How is the enrichment provided? Items such as puzzle feeders, toys, novelty food are given to the animals on random schedules to ensure interest or reaction to the stimuli.
